One of those VERY RARE collector's cars one occasionally finds. A clean, rust free, 'black plate' California car, unrestored, and in remarkable original condition.
Excellent rust and crack free chassis, excellent wood framing throughout, excellent rust free body WITH ORIGINAL PAINT. No bondo, no repairs, about as pristine as we have ever seen. AND THIS CAR IS EXACTLY A HALF CENTURY OLD.
Runs and drives well....engine has 150 psi compression in every cylinder, no smoke, 60+ psi oil pressure, trans feels good (quiet and with good synchronizer action), diff is quiet, brakes work well, has wire wheels, all of the original creme faced instruments work and seem to be in good condition.
Work needed? We have already fitted new tubes and radial tires, added new pins to the slightly saggng door hinges (now good as new), new chrome knock offs (the rest of the chrome is in remarkably good condition and very usable), needs interior trimming, wood floors are soggy and being replaced (the wood under the battery boxes is very good and the thin metal lip that secures the wood floors is excellent...no rust).
This, that, and other stuff....all fairly minor. And paint. Of course, we are working on this car BUT if purchased prior to finishing, a new owner can dictate the color of interior and exterior.
A wonderful Moggie....and 1960 is a wonderful year. New enough to have disc brakes yet sufficiently old to have the lovely classic creme gauges and switches. Which were changed to white on black in (or around) 1962.
This car GOES! With 100+ hp and tons of torque, it accelerates rather quickly, stops and steers very well, and don't believe what you read about a Morgan's ride being so stiff you lose your fillings. Ride is no worse than other period sports cars...nice on a smooth road, a general lack of axle travel on bumpy roads. But on a nice day, hard to beat a cruise in the neighborhood in a good running, good looking red Morgan.
Or British Racing Green
Or even two tone.
Use your imagination. Buy it now and have it painted in your choice of color.
THERE IS NO better classic sports car than a Morgan. Very rare (only maybe 250-400 built a year), easy to service (the factory will bend over backwards to make sure their cars run forever and, anyway, most parts needed to keep 'em running are Triumph, Healey, or MG), fabulous performance (105 mph top speed, 0-60 in around 10 seconds), great style, and wonderful driving characteristics.
All reasons I have owned Morgans for over 35 years.
