...this car is a special one....a lovely mid Western car that offers a modified engine, hotter cam, 'set up' carbs by a race specialist, STRONG performance (actually one of the fastest TR3s I have ever driven and one that REALLY pulls from 4,500 rpm up to beyond the red line), 4 speed transmission with overdrive AND with a neat racing style microswitch on the shift knob letting the driver click 'in' and 'out' of overdrive.
Nice bodywork, very presentable paint (show quality until you get to within a foot or two...the hood has some 'microcracks' in the paint surface, barely visible and NOT worth redoing in my opinion), fairly new top and tonneau, very good interior (seats, carpets, dash, door panels), good chrome, all of the gauges and lights/switches/etc work.
New wire wheel splined hubs were fitted with new chrome knock offs and 15" wire wheels, very clean trunk and engine compartments, wiring looks to be very good, no smoke, excellent oil pressure and when I took it for a test drive and felt the incredible power, I decided not to waste my time doing a compression test.
To be candid, EVEN if the compression is less than perfect (just tested it...160 psi in all cylinders), it is STILL one of the fastest TR3s I have ever driven. And now, after three or four rapid test drives, I think is goes at least as well as it looks.
