...a incredibly well preserved rust free south western car, 67,000 miles since new, excellent rust free chassis, no visible wood rot, excellent body when the car arrived but sun-faded paint.
155-160 psi compression in every cylinder 70 psi oil pressure, no smoke, unusually powerful, excellent running (SUs have been cleaned, checked, and are working perfectly). Tight front end, disc brakes, new wire wheel splines, 15" wire wheels, fairly new interior, refinished original wood dash, excellent wiring, good top, new tonneau, very good chrome, rebuilt brakes, new Aeroquip brake flex lines, banjo style steering wheel, very clean engine bay, what else is there? A wonderful, quick, Morgan 4 seater.
And, for those who don't know, a four seater is very very rare (of the 300-500 Morgans typically made per year, back then, only around 10% were four seaters). Same chassis as the two seater, maybe 50-75 pounds heavier, and room for two real live adults in the back. What is sensational about four seaters is the two seat 'look' when the back seat is covered and then...voila! Room for lots of baggage and/or two extra people.
My first Morgan, back in 1974, was a '59 red four seater. And the last Morgan I purchased for myself, just a few months ago, is a green '64 four seater. You just can't beat them for versatility.
I have owned and driven hundreds of Morgans and this car is unusually fast, unusually 'tight,' has a better than expected ride, very good steering, and one of the best Moss gearboxes I have ever used. Incredibly silent in first gear (to me, a sign of a barely worn gearbox...especially in a 'box with a straight cut 1st gear). Better than average synchromesh action. A really great Morgan.
