Started life (possibly according to the last owner) as a Cooper 997 but now with 'S' disc brakes, highly modified 1275cc engine, twin tanks, etc.....an "S" in most ways other than VIN. Oh well, life ain't perfect.
Three owners, last owner for 30+ years, excellent rust and bondo free body that was restored in 1984 and little used since, beautiful red paint, perfect floors and sills, excellent subframes, roll bar, new Mamba alloy wheels with Yokohama 165/70 008 super high performance radials, rebuilt modified engine with race camshaft, tuftrided crank, fully balanced, standard bore, 11 stud Cooper S head, new (NOT rebuilt) carbs, Corbeau seats, fender flares, all new chrome, seals, trim, etc, rust free trunk floor, dry suspension, Alfin rear drums, racing battery cut off switch on the floor, tubular exhaust manifold, oil cooler with Aeroquip lines, smaller steering wheel, steering column reclining bracket, racing belts, air horns, extra fuses, rear wiper, twin pipe ANSA 'performance' exhaust, negative camber front lower control arms, alloy rocker cover, after market dash with extra instruments, new window tracks, solid state ignition, twin electrics fuel pumps for the ultimate in reliability, two new fuel tanks, new trunk deck panel, a sensational, fast, phenomenal car with steering and handling second to none (ok, maybe a tie with a well sorted Lotus Elan).
Not a 'real' Cooper "S"? Well, here is my take on this. The only difference 'tween this car and a genuine "S" is, in reality, the VIN plate. Sorry, we didn't stick on the "S" emblems and we are certainly not going to take 'em off. So, if faultless provenence on this Mini is not essential, this car will WOW anyone who looks at it, or better yet, goes for a drive.
BUT if you forget that the correct, original VIN tag is not a part of this package, it is (otherwise) the nicest non Cooper 1275 "S I have seen in many, many years. And unlike some conversions, this car h as all the right stuff....using such genuine parts as original Cooper 'S' disc brakes, 11 stud head, and everything done to a very high quality or workmanship. And a neat car.
As for the rest, the photos tell the story.
Being finished, available soon.
