A car I have owned for 3 1/2 years, covered 3,000+ trouble free miles with ZERO work needed.
We started with an unrestored car. Original paint, all new interior and headliner, was in daily use by its last owner (in California where this car was all of its life.....a 'black plate' California car).
Work done: engine rebuilt...origjnal B18 block bored .120" over and fitted with new Mahle B20 pistons, reconditioned rods, balanced, lightened flywheel, completely reconditioned head, 3 angle valve job, high performance valve springs, cc'ed chambers, high lift performance cam, ported and polished, new clutch assembly, rebuilt twin SU carbs (came with Weber and available with that carb if prefered), a VERY well done 'blueprinted' engine. 120hp? 130hp? More?
Most of the chrome has been rechromed, new IPD front and rear sway bars, lots of little things (changed trans and diff oils, all new exhaust system, new water temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, front and rear seat belts, back up solid state fuel pump, new oil and water and fuel pumps) a very very VERY nice example of this lovely car.
Interior: completely redone, new seats, headliner, original style Volvo rubber floor matting, interior panels (with door pockets). Looks 'as new.'
All new rubber exterior pieces...wing beading, headlight and wiper gaskets, fender guards, windshield rubber, etc.
Owned one for 20 years, with sway bars and a decent set of radial tires, will outhandle any typical English sports car...MG, Triumph, Healey, etc. Surprisingly light, great suspension, they were great race cars in their day and great historic racing cars today.
Repainted in acryic (hand wet sanded and buffed). Accepted at the invitation-only Greenwich Concours, looks like new, absolutely gorgeous. A usable classic with performance, reliability, lovely esthetics, room for four, big trunk, and incredibly funky.
Unfortunately, we discovered extensive rust underneath....hidden by some past owner. SO....just finished an extensive rust repair using factory panels....new inner sills and outer rockers, floor repair, new 18 gauge steel everywhere we discovered any rust. Is now completely rust free, as sold as 'when new.'
So, excellent inside, outside, 'underneath,' mechanically, chrome and trim, options......this is a remarkable PV544 and like few others.
