an interesting project from some past owner, just finished by us.........

As a guess, a later (1970s?) body shell/chassis but with side lights removed such that it is virtually identical to the original shell. However, still retaining a number of worthwhile improvements: stronger tube type back axle, triple wipers, dual master cylinder. Otherwise....indistinguishable from a '65 shell.

Excellent five main bearing engine (no smoke at all, 70 psi oil pressure, perfect compression), fitted with late model 4 speed all synchro trans, wire wheels, excellent body (photos show when first arrived.....faded old paint, a bit of rust around rear fender edges but nothing horrible, new factory floor panels, excellent sills and rockers, no rust in the trunk floor), runs and drives very well. Also, quicker than stock...cam? Higher compression ratio? Dunno. But it does better than any of the other Bs we currently have in stock.

Good top and trim, boot cover, fitted with new carpets, new seats and interior panels (black with red piping), just painted in tartan red, front end completely rebuilt (bushings, kingpins, etc.), mostly new chrome (bumpes and overriders, etc.). A wonderful early MGB with some intelligent and worthwhile upgrades for safety and reliability. All in all, a BETTER B than stock.

Add electronic ignition, back up fuel pump, and a few other odds and ends and one can (hope?) to have reliable, enjoyable classic sports car for daily use, trips, and occasional shows.

A LOT OF WORK just went into this project (in front, just over the past few days, we finished the front end rebuild, brake rebuilding and a far amount of 'underneath' work one can's see merely by looking at the car of the photos) and the results are quite good....quick, excellent driving, superb shifting and steering, one of the best driving Bs we have ever had.
