A rare find...one owner 1967 MGB roadster, 57,000 original miles, complete and in surprinsingly well preserved restorable condition. Sold in Hartford, Ct in 1967 and still here, 42 years later.
Floors look good, rockers rotted away, still with original paint (how incredible after 42 years...NO BONDO or repairs or damage). Needs a lot of work which we will do. Photos taken the day it arrived at our workshop.
Strong points: original paint, excellent wiring, wire wheels, complete and missing nothing of any importance. We just stripped the engine and found it was never apart before...standard bearings, standard bores, sort of like opening King Tut's well preserved tomb.
Weak points: needs a fair amount of work.
Which we will do. Maybe for a customer who wants one of these lovely, very usable classics. With a choice of being finished in any color interioe and exterior (originally BRG with black seats, white piping).
Call and we can discuss options. This is where the project is at now..
COMPLETELY derusted body/chassis...fitted with the best English made Heritage panels, new inner and outer sills, rockers, floors, not a spec of rust anywhere. And just painted inside and out in proper GN29 dark British Racing green. We removed most of the items in the engine bay, heater, master cylinders, radiator, and masked the wiring. For an excellent degree of engine bay detailing.
Dashboard has been cleaned, sanded, and painted in crackle black finish and fitted with a Sony stereo/CD with iPod input. Brakes have been done....rebuilt annodized front calipers, new rear wheel cylinders, rotors turned, all new flex lines. And the front end was rebushed, springs sandblasted and painted, fuel tank thoroughly cleaned.
What else? We are planning....new tan carpets and inner panels, tan leather seats, an excellent set of wire wheels with new radials, new top and tonneau, mostly new rubber seals and gaskets, chrome, bumpers, trim, insginia, moldings, etc.
Engine: completely overhauled, balanced, fitted with a high lift cam, head ported and milled, new SU cabrs, headers, electronic ignition, solid state fuel pump, new radiator, and a adapter kit using a Datusn 280ZX fivs peed all synchromesh transmission.
Will be a fantastic MGB when done. Low mileage, one owner, VERY thoroughly rebuilt and restored. And available immediately (and can be finished to a new owner's specification) or when done.
