A rearrangementt of my own collection and car/use priorities has dictated the sale of one of my Mallock race cars. An incredibly potent, very competitive historic race car.

Have two. Which seemed like a good idea years ago...how many spares can one take to a race event? But with two cars......and two fabulously well prepared cars........

Funny thing about this....my Mallock #44 virtually never has an issue and has suffered maybe two DNFs in eight seasons. Which has rendered this 'back up' car superfluous to my needs.

It has been extraordinarily well prepared, is VERY fast, VERY reliable, and even sufficiently clean esthetically to have taken a first place trophy at the prestigious Greenwich concours.

Specifications: 1972 Mallock Mk XIB, chassis number 009, perfectly restored tubular space frame chassis, no more than a few hours on a virtual state of the art 1700cc Cosworth-Ford race engine, steel crank and rods, forged pistons, twin plate AP racing clutch/flywheel, 48 DCOE Webers, gas flowed head, electronic ignition, dry sump, never had it on a dyno but it has been suggested to be putting out around 170+hp or more, Quaife dog box transmisison, LSD, AP disc calipers, 10" front and 11" rear wheels, Avon intermediate racing tires, roll bar, fire system,, sophisticated rear axle location (of which nobody in the world does better than Mallock), alloy body, fiberglass wings, air to oil and coolant to oil coolers, Aeroquip throughout, twin master cylinders with balance bar, a phenomenal race car.

Virtually identiclal to the one I have been racing for years (see the videos onn our site under 'vintage racing') and just as fast (when driven by a friend, we have frequently finished 1-2 at race events).

Performance? My own car has turned 1:49s at Tremblant, 1:23s at Summit, won the B/Sports racer class at the 2011 Legends event at Le Circuit, has beaten every Porsche 911 it has ever raced against, runs competiviely with McLarens and Lola T70s, and all with a simple pushrod Ford 1600 engine. Amazing.

It many ways it is a 'Lotus 7 on steroids' but goes far beyond in wheel and tire size, aerodynamics, better chassis and suspension, and overall design and layout. In my opinion, the best all around hsitoric racer as a combination of initiall cost, cost to race and maintain, performance and competitiveness.

Watch the videos to see how a very well prepared Mallock compares to such greats as a McLaren Mk I, Lola T70, Ferrari 512, Chevron B16, Porsche 910, Shelby GT350 (the driver confided to me his engine was putting out 575hp), Porsches, EVERYTHING. When you consider the price of this awesome race car and see how it competes against other mega racers with engines that often cost more then the Mallock, you might agree this is a super racer.

THIS IS NOT a worn out race car, well beyond its prime.....it is a beautifully prepared car that I have kept as a back up and was, in the end, never really used. It is ready to race, ready to win (was the HSR class champion in 2003, just before my purchase), and even ready for another concours win.

What is really unique about this rare car is that it was built for a class (Clubmans) that never existed outside of England. And while it can run as a Formula car with the fenders off, as a sports/racer, or even as a production car (with Lotus 7s), it tend wander in a fuzzy area.......which has been great. When matched against the fastest Chevy V8 Powered Lolas and McLarens (as my car was at Tremblant in 2010)...it finished 3rd (a second behind a Lola T70). And when matched against the fastest Trans Am and even IMSA cars (at the 2011 Tremblant Legends race).....2nd overall 'till pushed off the track on the last corner of the last lap (and was awarded 1st place in the B/Sports/racing class).

AND.....in September at Tremblant, running with everyone.....production, formula, sports/racers....came within a few seconds of lapping the entire field. All in all, more fun, better racing, and a higher degree of reliability than anything I have ever encountered. All reasons I drive the 'other' Mallock in my barn.

(also included with car is original MG engine, block, head, and assorted parts)
