A car I have owned for a number of years and a delightful all season classic four seater.
Only covered 33,000 miles since new, EXCELLENT body and white paint, perfect rust free floor pan, all new red interior, new red convertible top and boot cover, no rust, excellent chassis, spotless trunk and engine bay.
And IN THAT engine bay....a new (or, at least, new 2,000 miles ago) 1.8 liter SCAP engine. With everything chromed and detailed. Twin Webers, electronic ignition, twin fuel pumps, accelerates like a Porsche 356 N, REALLY GOES! Dunno the rated horsepower but having driven stock 48hp Super Beetles, there is NO comparison as this VW really performs.
Other things....stereo/CD with iPod input, aftermarket steering wheel, EMPI wheels, tachometer, four pipe exhaust, center console, new heater blowers (giving effective heat, even at idle, in Connecticut Winter weather), battery cut off switch, external battery jump terminals to eliminate the need to lift the rear seat to charge the battery...... have put 2,000 very happy miles on this car over the past five years and it has been an absolute pleasure.
Reliable, simple, ample performance, real classic style, and a lot of fun to drive.
