Starts on the button, runs great, drive anywhere
Excellent body, very nice BRG paint, very good black leather seats, new windshield and seal, very clean engine bay, all electrics work properly, overdrive clicks 'in' and 'out' quickly, rebuilt brakes, new stayfast black cloth boot cover, very good top, a very nice example.
"Big Healeys' (as opposed to the smaller Healeys such as the Bug Eye) were designed to fill a gap in the sports car market of its day. With Morgan, MG, and Triumph at the lower rung and Jaguar and Aston Martin at the top. And this Healey filled the gap wonderfully.....a big, torquey 145hp 3 liter pushrod engine, 4 speed with overdrive usable on 3rd an 4th gears (essentially offering six forward gear ratios), power assist disc brakes, roomy comfortable interior, even rear jump seats for kits.
None of the 'assembly' style of top, this car's top goes up and down quickly and easily. Ample trunk room (and if you want more, we can easily install a luggage rack), and even roll up windows! That's right, even in cooler or wet weather, one can be snug inside this Big Healey.
Last owner installed a new aluminum radiator (far better cooling than even when new), a nice wood steering wheel, the complete trunk upholstery kit, spin on oil filter, and what appears to be new wire wheels.
We went over the edges of the body, doglegs, rockers, fender edges with a small magnet, stuck everywhere. There DOES NOT appear to be any bondo (quite a rarity in ANY sixty year old car). Exhaust sounds great, starts easily and runs and drives exceptionally well.
Everyone had their own opinion when it comes to aesthetics. Personally, I would have the interior dyed in Camel (and we do excellent dye work that lasts) and probably paint the side 'scallops' in either deep red or tan. Regardless, as it sits, it is a beautiful example of one these fine classic sports cars.
