As a 1967, often considered the most desirable MGB. And, in this car's case, an excellent example.
No sign of rust, excellent body and chassis/floors. With quality green paint. All new chrome and trim, all new interior with leather seats, new cloth top, new steering wheel, spotless dashboard, all working original gauges, new carpets and interior panels. Absolutely beautiful.
Engine fires on the first crack, no smoke cold or hot, 65 psi oil pressure at operating temperature, 155-165 psi compression.....all of these items are virtually 'as new.' Same with gearbox; is silent, has excellent synchromesh, quiet even in first gear, clutch works as new. Brakes, steering, hydraulics, steering are all first rate.
Wiring and electrics look fine and everything electrical works, has a new leather steering wheel, seat belts, new jack in the carpeted trunk, has an oil cooler, reallyu needs nothing. IF you define the term 'show car' as one you might see at a local show, the kind at the local VFW hall or school parking lot, thie car is definately in 'show condition.'
With 98hp, the 1966-67s were the most powerful MGBs built. And were THE sports car of their era. You must remember, MG had disc brakes four or five years before Porsche. And had a very strong unibody body/chassis which is something Triumph never had with their TR6. And back in the 1960s, MGB were competitive in their class at places like Sebring and LeMans. With light precise steering,
very good brakes, excellent ride and handling, and a top speed over 100mph.
It is a gorgeous car that really needs nothing. And, of course, we can anything a new owner might want like a luggage rack, modern digital stereo, chroms wire wheels, driving lights, wood steering wheel, on and on.
