Found this car locally, appeared to be an abandoned restoration....exterior was all in primer, interior gutted other than very good original seats, no bumpers or external lights. AND excellent floors, sills, rockers, etc. A perfect candidate for finishing.
It ran and drove wonderfully, we did a compression check and found 155-160 psi all across, runs 65+ oil pressure, no smoke, clutch didn't grab or slip, excellent synchromesh..........a very tight, excellent running MGB. Wire harness looked very good, not worn or patched, and the overall appearance was of a babied, cared for car.
Just painted the exterior in a bright red (base coat/clear coat acrylic, hand wet sanded and buffed...no bondo other than thin glazing), same with engine bay, trunk, and door jambs, installed a nice set of MG Limited Edition alloy wheels (and yes, we can convert to wire wheels if so desired), new carpets, dyed the new door panels, dash, and console to match, new door seals, interior came out great.
As a 1978, left the factory with rubber bumpers...but now, a complete chrome bumper conversion with new chrome bumpers, Mk I grille, we eliminated the side lights (and welded in plates), exterior is virtually identical to an early MGB. Also a new expensive wood steering wheel, And also added a new burled wood dash and a digital stereo with bluetooth (yes, with knobs for the classic look).
All in all, a beautiful rust free, excellent running MGB with a near new cloth top, boot cover, spotless trunk, all new chrome, and ready for a fun Summer.
We can offer options such as a new 32/36 Weber DGV with electric choke, tubular headers, low the car to pre 1975 ride height, Minilite wheels, air conditioning, a 5 speed trans or overdrive, driving lights, luggage rack, etc. A buyer's choice.
